Our Story

Our story reinvented….

Our new commercial kitchen and private event space offers an array of services including: private dining experiences, corporate events, bar service, dine-in or takeout lunch, prepared fresh or frozen meals to go and pop-up theme parties.  We continue to provide full-service off-site catering with bar service for weddings & events at select venues and private residences.  We specialize in full-service catering and enjoy creating the ultimate experience for our clients.

The inside scoop…

CBD was purchased from Dale in June 2017 by Susan, a wedding coordinator who hired Dale exclusively for over 11 years for all weddings & events. Two and a half years later, covid struck so a decision needed to be made on how to continue operations. With a new, retrofitted Ford Transit in the driveway, the decision was made to use it as a full-time food truck and it became the only source of survival during 2020. The manager of Point Bay Marina, Todd Smith, offered exclusivity to the CBD food truck to serve both the boaters and local townspeople. We started by taking preorders and delivering to the marina weekly, which led us to embrace the full food truck experience quickly. Our company was now in survival mode with increased sales of two items: Susan’s Margarita’s & Chef Shawn’s famous lobster rolls!

Offering healthy meal options…

Now in our sixth year, CBD offers a variety of healthy meals at the marina and has built a loyal customer base. Many people drive from nearby towns to enjoy our tasty meals, both for preorders or to purchase on-site. At CBD, we are forever grateful to Todd for affording us this opportunity to remain open and keep moving forward with the looming uncertainty. The marina became our safe haven……our home.

Our business began to grow…

as people started hiring us for weddings and other events after tasting the delicious food from our truck. Venue owners we met still recommend us for their events. With the opening of our new restaurant and event space in October 2022, we have grown into a successful business once again offering takeout lunches and frozen meals. Today, our private event space is booking regularly, lunches and takeout meals have increased drastically, our food truck returns to the marina in May and our off-premise catering is thriving. Much of this is due to the kindness of one special person who helped us: Todd Smith. His support filled us with hope and kept us going! We can’t wait to be “home!”

We were and still are thankful to the owners of The Country Christmas Loft and The Shelburne Country Store, Deb & Steve. They called us to offer a space for our food truck at both of their businesses during the fall into the holidays. We were thrilled when the call came out of nowhere and we appreciated that they had the thought of trying to help us during difficult times. Our small team agreed to the fun elf outfits also! Thank you Deb & Steve!

We offered holiday meal preorders

In an attempt to keep going and growing, we offered preorders for families and businesses for the holidays. We packaged everything into takeout containers for reheating and offered curbside delivery at our kitchen. Due to the success of our preorders, we continue to offer this annual service each holiday season beginning with Thanksgiving!
